1. Group Classes

  1. All classes must be paid in full before the start of each course.
  2. Each lesson is 50 minutes long, including a short break.
  3. Guaranteed Maximum Class Size:
    • Beijing, Shanghai, Xi’an, Chengdu, Kunming, Beihai, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City || 6 students per class
    • Taipei, Kaohsiung || 8 students per class
    • Tokyo, Osaka and Seoul || 10 students per class
    • All Cities Summer Camps || 12 students per class
  4. Group classes will therefore continue and be charged according to the scheduled teaching plan, regardless of attendance.
  5. If you miss a class, LTL can arrange a special 1-on-1 Make Up Class at the lowest price of the Individual 1-on-1 program of the same school.
  6. No refund can be given for classes not attended by the student, either voluntarily or involuntarily.
  7. Class schedules follow the LTL Holiday Schedule as published on the LTL Website.
  8. Students must follow the organized class schedule. All full-time classes are taught Monday to Friday between 8am and 6pm.

2.1 Full time 1-on-1 Classes

  1. All classes must be paid in full before the start of each course.
  2. Each 1-on-1 lesson is 50 minutes long.
  3. All full-time classes are taught Monday to Friday between 8am and 6pm, according to the school’s issued timetable.
  4. Class Location:
    1. All private 1on1 classes can be online, the LTL Campus or at your preferred study location depending on classroom availability.
    2. For classes taken outside the school within LTL Transport Free Locations, no Teacher Transport Fees will apply. For locations outside of this range, the Student Advisor will calculate the Fee based on the preferred location.
    3. LTL Transport Free Locations:
      Beijing: any location inside 4th Ring Road
      Shanghai: any location within the limits of Subway Line 4
  5. All Online 1-on-1 classes are held using Zoom/Voov/other video chat platform that will be decided on and notified in advance. It is the student’s responsibility to make sure that there are no technical issues on their side before the start of the classes.
  6. Attendance and Late Arrival
    1. Students are required to arrive on time for class. Teachers will wait for a maximum of 30 minutes; after that, the class will be considered canceled.
    2. If you will be late for a class, please inform your teacher ASAP!
    3. No refund can be given for classes not attended by the student, either voluntarily or involuntarily.
  7. Cancellation Policy:
    1. Classes can be canceled/modified for up to 30% of your classes with a notice at least 24 work hours in advance for both onsite classes and online classes.
    2. To notify us about a holiday (at least a whole week’s break), please send us an email 2 weeks in advance.
    3. Classes have to be canceled/modified by filling out the Class Cancellation Form. Classes canceled or modified with less or no prior notice will be charged, as LTL cannot re-assign teachers at such short notice.
  8. For Safari students, you are responsible for paying for any purchases you make.
  9. When your course is about to finish, please contact your Student Advisor at LTL. If you finish all your hours without purchasing more, your teacher will automatically be assigned to other students.

2.2 Part-time 1-on-1 Classes

  1. Part-Time 1-on-1 means fewer than 10 lessons per week.
  2. Sections 2.1.2, 2.1.4, 2.1.5, 2.1.6, 2.1.7, 2.1.8, and 2.1.9 apply to Part-Time Classes, in addition to the following:
  3. Minimum Class duration:
    1. Online: 1 Lesson
    2. At School: 1.5 Lessons
    3. Outside School: 2 Lessons
  4. All classes must be paid in full before the start of each course, unless part of LTL Quality Guarantee.
  5. LTL Quality Guarantee:
    1. If a student is dissatisfied with his/her 1on1 classes after the first three hours of class, he/she can choose to discontinue the course and will not be charged for any classes taken.
    2. To use the LTL Quality Guarantee, email your Student Advisor about any issues within one day of your third class hour and before your fourth. LTL will offer alternatives like a new teacher or method. If unsatisfied, you can cancel the course without paying for the guarantee period.
    3. The LTL Quality Guarantee cannot be used if the student used any free classes.
  6. Students can schedule classes freely between 8 AM and 9 PM (including weekends) at no extra charge, subject to teacher availability. For other times, contact us for special arrangements or consider our Super Flexible 1on1 program.

2.3 Super Flexible 1-on-1 Special Classes

  1. All of the Part Time 1on1 regulations apply for the Super Flexible program, except those noted below:
  2. Class Cancellation Regulations:
    1. Super Flexible programs can be cancel/modified/re-scheduled in an unlimited fashion without incurring any charges or losing hours.
    2. Classes can be cancelled/modified for 100% of your classes with at least 2 work hours advance notice.
    3. To notify us about a holiday (at least a whole week’s break), please send us an email 2 weeks in advance.
  3. For classes scheduled outside your regular schedule, we will try our best to provide you with your regular teacher, but this cannot be guaranteed.
  4. Classes outside of your regular schedule can be arranged at any time with at least 6 work hours’ notice before the planned start time, subject to teacher availability.

3. Accommodation

  1. Students must comply with the housing regulations of their accommodation. If a student repeatedly violates housing regulations, he/she may have to leave the accommodation. In those cases, no refund can be provided.
  2. If a student wants to change or cancel accommodation after starting their program, this is only possible in case a valid reason is provided that makes continuing the course impossible. Suppose this is the case and the student is highly cooperative in organizing this with the school. In that case, four weeks’ notice is applicable and discounts need to be adjusted according to actual booking duration.
  3. Changing rooms during the residence camp might be needed.

4. Group Study Trips by LTL Partner Organizations

  1. LTL ensures that all food and accommodation provided meet appropriate standards of safety and quality. Special dietary or accommodation requests will be accommodated where reasonably possible. Any additional costs arising from such requests shall be borne by the group organizer.
  2. The LTL partner organization is responsible for clearly and accurately communicating the scope and details of the program to all participants. Any additional services requested by participants that fall outside the agreed program must be covered by the partner organization.
  3. LTL reserves the right to modify activities where necessary due to availability, weather conditions, or operational requirements. Any such changes will be made with participants’ best interests in mind.
  4. The partner organization must provide complete and accurate participant information no later than one (1) month prior to the program start date.
  5. The partner organization is responsible for ensuring that all participants demonstrate appropriate maturity and comply with all safety rules and regulations set by LTL.
  6. LTL reserves the right to assign different staff members to organize and manage activities on different days, depending on operational needs.
  7. Each activity includes one (1) LTL guide. Additional guides can be arranged upon request and will incur additional charges if booked in advance.
  8. For programs that include accommodation, full payment must be received at least one (1) month prior to the program start date. Cancellations made within thirty (30) days of the start date are non-refundable.

5. General Terms

  1. By making payment for the program, the Student confirms acceptance of the Terms and Conditions listed here, and LTL guarantees the booked course, service and accommodation.
  2. Official LTL Work Hours are 9AM to 6PM Monday to Friday local time.
  3. Force Majeure: In case of weather incidents, government decisions to suspend services due to natural disaster, lock-downs, weather or fire risks, regulatory or licensing issues or any other incident outside of LTL control, like war, natural disasters etc., LTL will try to provide the service as far as it is able to. Classes will be taught online. Students might have to adjust a different time schedule. Accommodation or activities will be provided as far as is possible. No refunds are offered for services that cannot be provided due for Force Majeure.
  4. Alternate locations may be used during peak periods. In the Residence Camp, room changes may be necessary in rare cases.
  5. For students with special medical or dietary needs, placement into a family might not be possible or additional charges might apply.
  6. In Junior camps, participants must be mature enough to raise and manage any organizational concerns with the school team directly. LTL cannot discuss and communicate organizational issues with parents. And health and safety concern parents are always to be involved immediately.
  7. All participants of LTL programs are expected to adhere to proper conduct and obey our campus rules. Disrespecting other cultures and beliefs, using drugs, engaging in illegal activities, exhibiting violent behavior and other inappropriate conduct in or out of the school will not be tolerated. The Student will be liable for all damages to any persons or property caused by such.
  8. The Student is responsible for a valid passport, visa, medical and travel insurance to cover his/her period of stay with LTL.
  9. By participating in the program, the Student agrees that their feedback or photos may be used for training or information materials, including but not limited to the LTL website.
  10. The student understands that according to local laws, CCTV cameras may be installed in some areas for security purposes.
  11. Any changes to courses, accommodations or other LTL programs are a lot of work and very difficult for LTL to do and the cancellation fees are costly for students, so please try to avoid changes whenever possible. Any such changes to the program are subject to availability.
  12. If multiple programs are being changed, either at the same time or at different times, the Rebooking Fee will apply to each program separately.
  13. If a postponed program is later cancelled, the applicable cancellation terms shall be those in effect on the date the postponement was requested. Postponed programs are valid for up to 1 year. Refund terms can maximum be up to the level of the terms that had applied at your original postponement date.
  14. Refund Regulations:
    1. At least 14 days before the start of the earliest program: A full 100% refund of the program fee being refunded shall be made.
    2. Less than 14 days before the start date until the start date of the earliest program: A refund of 70% of the program fee shall be made.
    3. From the 1st day until before one-third of the total program: A refund of 50% of the program fee shall be made.
    4. After having participated in at least one-third of the program, no changes or refunds shall be possible.
    5. For organizational purposes, including payments, cancellations, etc. all LTL programs booked are considered one program, even if the location or course might change during that program.
  15. All refund applications must be made in written form by email to your Student Advisor. All refund regulations will apply based on the time of the application received. All refunds shall be made in the original currency to the original payer. Any currency conversion fees or other bank charges will be the responsibility of the Student. If payment was made through an education agent or other third party, the refund shall be made to that agent or third party and the Student must request the refund through them.
  16. LTL’s finance is calculated in CNY. Refunds in non-CNY currency will be calculated based on the exchange rate of that day, minus any bank charges.
  17. For any refunds made, a deduction of bank charges and a processing fee equivalent to 150 USD in local currency will apply.
  18. Once visa support documents are issued by LTL to a student, a refund application is only possible with a visa rejection note from the consulate.
  19. If you cancel your program after a visa has been issued to you, you will need to invalidate that visa before being able to apply for a refund.
  20. If you cancel your program after entering the country on a visa applied for with LTL supporting documents, you will have to leave the country immediately. It is not possible to remain in the country on that visa after canceling your program.
  21. Any discussion of the above shall be made courteously and respectfully, with cooperation and understanding from both parties.
  22. All Terms & Conditions are subject to change without prior notice.
  23. Bunkai Kyoiku Center Godo Kaisha (doing business as: LTL Language School). All purchases made through programs organized by Bunkai Kyoiku Center Godo Kaisha shall be governed by the laws of Japan.
  24. These Terms and Conditions apply to the services provided by LTL Language School (“LTL”), its suppliers, partners, and affiliated companies.

6. Rebooking Terms:

Applies to all locations, including both courses and accommodations.

  1. Any changes to the program made after the program has started shall be treated as a rebooking into a new program. The original program will be considered terminated as of the effective date of the rebooking.
  2. A rebooking fee shall apply and consist of:
    • (i) 10% of the total fee of the original program being changed.
    • (ii) the full fee for the portion of the original program already used.
  3. The remaining amount, after deduction of the above fees, may be applied toward the new program. Any difference in price between the remaining amount and the fee for the new program shall be paid by the student.
  4. Once a third or more of the program has been taken, no further changes to the program are possible.

7. Location Specific Regulations

For courses in Mainland China, Singapore, Vietnam and Accommodation in all locations: Section 5.14 applies. For the locations listed below, Section 5.14 is replaced by the following:

  1. Japan:
    1. Programs of less than two (2) months: Section 5.14 shall apply.
    2. Programs of two (2) months or longer: The following cancellation policy shall apply:
      • (i) Cooling-off Period: From the date the student signs the Program Outline until eight (8) days thereafter, the student may cancel the program and receive a full refund of all amounts paid.
      • (ii) After the Cooling-off Period and before the start of the program: The student may cancel the program subject to a cancellation charge of 15,000 JPY.
      • (iii) After the program has started: The student may cancel the program subject to the following cancellation charges:
        • (1) 15,000 JPY;
        • (2) Tuition corresponding to the completed period of study; and
        • (3) 20% of the remaining tuition, subject to a maximum of 50,000 JPY.
    3. For the purpose of calculating the cancellation charge, the tuition referred to in Sections 7.1.b.iii (2) and (3) shall be calculated based on the standard published tuition fee before any discount or promotional pricing.
  2. Taipei:
    1. Before the start of the earliest program: A refund of the program fee shall be made after deduction of an administrative fee of 1,000 NTD.
    2. From the 1st day until before completing one-third of the total program: A refund of 50% of the total program tuition fee shall be made.
    3. After having participated in at least one-third of the program, no changes or refunds shall be possible.
  3. Seoul and Jeonju:
    1. Before the start of the earliest program: A full 100% refund of the program fee being refunded shall be made.
    2. From the 1st day until before completing one-third of the total program: A refund of 2/3 (about 66%) of the program fee shall be made.
    3. From one-third until before completing one-half of the total program: A refund of 50% of the program fee shall be made.
    4. After having participated in at least one-half of the program, no changes or refunds shall be possible.

8. LTL Code of Conduct:

  1. Students must attend every class and complete homework on time.
  2. Students must respect teachers, follow instructions from authorized persons, take care of their study materials, keep classrooms clean after use, and take responsibility for their behavior.
  3. Students must respect their peers and other people involved in the program, and must not harass, threaten, intimidate, harm, or insult anyone. Students may not endanger their own or any other people’s health and/or well-being.
  4. Students must not be involved in any fights or commit any violent or illegal acts under local law or the law of their home country.
  5. Students must look after their personal property and must not cause any damage to school property or property belonging to anyone else.
  6. Students should use polite language and gestures at all times.
  7. Minor violations will result in an oral warning. Any verbal insults or physical attacks against others will be considered serious violations. Serious or repeated violations may result in dismissal from the program without a refund. For students under 18 years of age, their parents or legal guardians will also be notified.
