How to apply for the Bildungsurlaub
We’ll give you an overview of how you can apply for educational leave in your federal state – easily and step by step.
*You need to meet specific requirements of eligible German states to apply for the Bildungsurlaub.
Bildungsurlaub Berlin
The application should be submitted to your employer as early as possible, but at least six weeks before your stay.
You will receive confirmation from us to present to your employer that you are taking a language course during your stay (you will receive this no later than 48 hours after your registration) and the recognition certificate for our Berlin program.
At the end of your educational leave, you will also receive a confirmation of your participation in our program, which some employers require.

Bildungsurlaub Brandenburg
Here, too, the application must be submitted to your employer as early as possible, but at least six weeks in advance.
You will need your registration confirmation for your language course at LTL (you will receive this no later than 48 hours after registration) and the recognition certificate for our course in Brandenburg.
At the end of your stay, you will also receive a certificate of your stay with us, which you can present to your employer upon your return.

Bildungsurlaub Hamburg
In Hamburg, the application process is similar to that in Berlin and Brandenburg.
You should apply to your employer for your planned educational leave at least six weeks in advance and provide the following: a registration confirmation for your language course (you will receive this from us no later than 48 hours after your registration) and the recognition certificate for our Hamburg event.
Here, too, you will receive a notification from us after your educational leave, which some employers require.

Bildungsurlaub Mecklenburg-Vorpommern
In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, you’ll need to be a little earlier and apply for educational leave with your employer eight weeks in advance.
Here, too, you’ll need the following documents from us, which we’ll be happy to provide: the registration confirmation for your participation in our language course (we’ll issue this no later than 48 hours after your registration), the recognition certificate for our course in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, and proof of the language course content and a timetable.
You’ll also receive a confirmation letter for your stay from us before your return journey.

Bildungsurlaub Niedersachsen
In Lower Saxony, the application deadline is four weeks before the start of the event.
All you need is a certificate of recognition for our event in Lower Saxony, which we will be happy to send you, and a registration confirmation (which you will receive from us after registering for the course) to present to your employer.
When you return, you may need a confirmation of your stay (confirmation of participation), which we will issue to you before your departure.

Bildungsurlaub Rheinland-Pfalz
The same applies in Rhineland-Palatinate:
Submit your application to your employer six weeks in advance and provide the certificate of recognition for our event in Rhineland-Palatinate and the registration confirmation (which you will receive from us 48 hours after your registration).
You will also need a confirmation of your stay with us to present to your employer, which we will issue to you before your departure.

Bildungsurlaub Saarland
As in most other federal states, you must submit the application to your employer at least six weeks in advance.
In addition to your application, you will need the certificate of recognition of our event for Saarland and, in some cases, a registration confirmation, both of which you will receive from us.
After your return, your employer may want to see a certificate of your stay, which we will issue to you before your departure.

Bildungsurlaub Sachsen-Anhalt
The same procedure applies in Saxony-Anhalt as in most other federal states.
You must submit your application for educational leave to your employer at least six weeks in advance.
You should attach the certificate of recognition of our course for Saxony-Anhalt and a confirmation of registration for the course. We will issue both to you after you book the language course.
At the end of your educational leave, we will also issue you with a certificate of your stay with us, which some employers require.

Bildungsurlaub Schleswig-Holstein
You should submit your application for educational leave to your employer at least 6 weeks before your departure.
To present to your employer, you will need the certificate of recognition for our course in Schleswig-Holstein as well as a registration confirmation, which we will send you after booking your language course.
Some employers require a confirmation of participation after your stay. We will, of course, provide this as well!

Bildungsurlaub Hessen
LTL is fully accredited in Hessen with a valid accreditation both for the Trägeranerkennung and Veranstaltungsanerkennung for language programs in Mandarin, Japanese, Korean and Vietnamese.
In Hessen the accreditation for teaching a language at one school is valid for all other schools world wide too.
