CSN ACCREDITATION
CSN (Centrala Studiestödsnämnden) is the Swedish authority for student grants.
They can offer student grants and student loans to Swedish students who study abroad under eligible education.
CSN helps students cover tuition fees, living costs and study materials,
making higher education more accessible and affordable.

WHO CAN APPLY FOR CSN FUNDING?
SCHOOL AND COURSE APPROVAL
The school and course must be approved by CSN. Schools that are approved by the Ministry of Education in the country of study are generally also approved by CSN. Language schools are approved by national or international quality organizations (e.g. English UK, Istituto Cervantes, Eaquals, IALC, IH).
AGE
There is no minimum age for undergraduate and postgraduate courses. For upper secondary level courses, including non-ECTS language courses, students are eligible from 1 July of the year they turn 20. The number of weeks eligible for loans decreases after the age of 51, and no funding is available after the age of 61.
CITIZENSHIP
Swedish citizens who have lived in Sweden for at least two consecutive years out of the last five years. Or if you have studied abroad with CSN during this period.
COURSE LENGTH
Within the EU, courses must be at least 3 weeks long. Outside the EU, the minimum course length is 13 weeks. CSN supports up to 240 weeks for higher education and up to 80 weeks for language courses and upper secondary level programmes.
We are CSN accredited – No school is better equipped to help you achieve your goals
HOW DO YOU APPLY FOR CSN FUNDING?
STEP 1 – Admission || First, get accepted to an approved school abroad.
STEP 2 – Prepare your documents || Have a confirmation of application to the school ready that includes details such as your name, date of birth, course and grades, term dates and tuition fees.
STEP 3 – Submit application || Apply for CSN funding via the CSN website and submit all necessary documents.
STEP 4 – Approval and payment || If all conditions are met and the documents are in order, CSN usually approves the application. Grants and loans are paid directly to students, with the first payment 2-3 weeks before the start of the course. Loans for tuition fees are usually paid per semester, while other funds are paid monthly.
Once the application is approved, students will receive a document in English stating the amount and payment schedule. If proof of funding is needed before the school will accept the application, the application can also be made using CSN Form 5514.
