FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

If I don’t want to stay in a homestay, what are my options?

Typically students who don’t stay in a homestay would select their own accommodation.

If you wish to find out more about our homestays you can contact us here.

Can I book a homestay without booking a course?

No unfortunately not.

All our homestay experiences in Saigon are reserved for our students who study in small group classes or individually.

Do I get a house key?

Yes of course.

How do you decide who to pair me with?

The key is getting to know you before placing you.

We speak to you to get an idea of what makes you tick.

Your likes, your hobbies, your passions etc.

As we have a wide range of families all with different traits and hobbies, this allows us to make the perfect match.

Can I change my homestay if I am not happy?

You can yes, but speak to us and we’ll try and find a way to resolve it.

This rarely happens but if the situation is one that is best changed, we will be able to assist you.

How do I get to my homestay family from the airport?

We can come and pick you up.

You can also make your own way if you fancy a challenge to get yourself started but typically after a long flight students prefer to be take directly by our drivers.

Our airport pickup is one of a number of additional services which we provide.

You can find out more about our extra Saigon services here.

Can someone come and stay over in my room?

No this is not possible.

Your host family would find this rude and disrespectful.

Will I receive information about my host family before?

Yes. We will send you an information pack to your email.

Can I wash my clothes?

Yes of course.

All homestays have washing machines and everything you need to freshen up your wardrobe.

If you’re lucky, your homestay family may even do your washing for you!

Can I come home late at night?

As long as you show respect, be quiet, and don’t make loud noises then this is fine.

Please make sure to let your family know if you are having dinner outside, so they don’t wait for your return to eat.

Should I say Saigon or Ho Chi Minh City?

Ho Chi Minh City (or HCMC) is the official name of the city.

It has been called Saigon for centuries, but the name was changed from Saigon to Ho Chi Minh in 1975 at the end of the Vietnam war.

A lot of people still call the city Saigon as it is shorter and easier. The airport code is even SGN still!

However, all official written documentation should only list Ho Chi Minh City.
