Chinese names hold deep meanings.
Naming your newborn in China is a big deal, and the thinking that goes behind the name has always fascinated me.
What makes a beautiful girl’s name in China? Won’t they all sound similar if everyone shoehorns in the same characters?
I wanted to learn more.
I needed to speak to natives.
Luckily enough, I work with a host of amazing Chinese teachers everyday in the LTL Beijing office.
So I got to work.
I sat down with 17 teachers and quizzed them about their favourite Chinese names.
My question was simple.
If you were giving birth to a baby girl tomorrow, what would you name her and why.
Below are their responses.
In total, I managed to collate 31 Chinese girl names, all of which were described in great detail by my colleagues.
Some teachers couldn’t choose just one and gave multiple – which is only good news for you!
