ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

PRE COURSE TALK

Students all have different backgrounds when it comes to learning Japanese, so it is important for us to know what you have studied in the past. That is why we will organise a pre-course talk before your arrival in Tokyo.

We organise our groups according to levels, so you are matched with a group of the same level as you. You can then all learn and progress together.

This casual chat is organised with a member of our team and is a simple conversation. You are not being tested.

It can be done via WhatsApp, Skype, Zoom or a phone call.

OTHER COURSES

We also offer more than just Small Group Courses.

If you’d prefer individual classes with a private tutor, please check our dedicated page here.

We also organise more specific classes such as JLPT Preparation Classes if you are thinking about taking the exam.

Don’t forget we also teach Japanese 24/7 online with Flexi Classes. Find out more with these videos below.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How many students per class?

Our groups are kept small to encourage students to speak up and practice, but also so the teachers can focus on each and every student.

You are never just a number and you are always heard.

We have a maximum of 6 students per class, with an average of 2.

How long is a lesson?

A lesson lasts for 55 minutes.

Where will my classmates be from?

Your classmates will come from all over the world.

We accept students from all age groups, backgrounds and nationalities, so you’ll be meeting a lot of interesting people at LTL.

Students often make friends for life at LTL given the fact our community is so tight-knit.

Check out our review page to see all the different nationalities who come to LTL.

Is there a lunch break?

Our lunch break is one hour long.

Students, teachers and staff all have lunch together at nearby restaurants of by ordering in.

Whether you have one depends on the schedule of your lessons, but you’ll always get a chance to relax and re-group.

What is a typical class schedule?

A typical class schedule is 2 hours of class in the morning, and two hours in the afternoon (10am-12pm / 1pm-3pm).

If you joined an intensive program, the two extra 1-on-1 classes per day can be taken at any convenient time for you. Typically this is from 3pm to 5pm.

This schedule can be different depending on the period of the year, and classroom availabilities.

Can you help me get a visa for Japan?

As a private language school we cannot help with the student visa process. You can enroll to our courses without a visa by checking if your country has a visa-waiver agreement with Japan.

After you book and finalise the payment for your program, we will issue a Letter of Acceptance and Payment Receipt that you can use to apply for a short-term tourist visa, if needed.

Will I have time to visit the country after the program?

Yes absolutely.

Japan is a beautiful country with lots to visits all year round, and you’ll definitely be able to go and explore after your program.

Make sure you discuss your plans with your student advisor during the booking process, so you have enough time on your visa (if one is needed).

Find out more about Japan by checking out our dedicated Japanese blog.

Do you provide accommodation?

Yes we do.

We provide Homestay accommodation, meaning you’ll be living with a Japanese family.

We pride ourselves in our ability to create a truly immersive experience for our students, and living with a homestay family is the best way to do so.

You will be able to speak Japanese everyday after school, eat delicious homemade dishes daily and participate in every activity organised, just like any other member of the family.

Visit our dedicated page on Homestays in Tokyo for more details.

How much progress can I expect to make?

Progress really depends on each and everyone.

You will of course make progress in your Japanese abilities by attending our classes and completing any homework and exercises your teacher assigns you.

However, you can progress much faster progress if you also practice outside of class, find some Japanese friends, watch Japanese TV or anime, attend activities with locals, etc.

One of the best ways to make great progress is to live with a homestay family, as you get to speak Japanese on a daily basis in a very immersive environment.

Progress can be as fast as you’d like it to be, you only need to put you out there and practice as much as you can.

Can I switch classes?

If necessary, we can find a group class better suited to your needs.

Speak to our Director of Studies anytime you have concerns about your language course.

How can I sign up?

Speak to our student advisor by opening the live-chat at the bottom right corner of your screen, or send us an email here.

We look forward to hear about your study project.

I’d recommend this kind of class to anyone who wishes to learn the language. As the classes are small, you can develop friendships. Thanks LTL.
