JLPT EXAM PREPARATION
Do you need to pass the JLPT for university or work purposes? Or perhaps just because you’d like to reach a new milestone in your language learning journey?
The JLPT (or Japanese Language Proficiency Test) is an exam laid out in a very specific way, only measuring reading and listening comprehension, with grammar points, kanji, and vocabulary varying by level.
If you are taking the exam for the first time you may well require some guidance. We can help you prepare for success.
Be sure you mention you’d like to prepare for the JLPT to our team, and we’ll help you get ready for your exciting language program with us.
Have you ever thought about living with a Japanese family? Yes, it is possible!
To make the most of your experience in Tokyo, we highly recommend you book a homestay with LTL.
80% of our students choose this type of accommodation, and it has been increasingly popular in each of our destinations.
You can enjoy life as a member of a Japanese family, speak Japanese every single day and eat delicious homemade food in the comfort of a cozy apartment with a loving Japanese family.
Our families usually don’t speak much English, so by living with a homestay you’ll make progress in a faster manner, and get to experience the real Japan. This immersive atmosphere cannot be replicated elsewhere.
Our Tokyo Safari and Discover Tokyo additional programs are a 1-on-1 course upgrade.
To book this course, you must first choose a program that includes at least 10 hours a week of individual classes. After this, you may then upgrade those hours of class to these programs.
PLEASE NOTE – Students are responsible for any purchases made on the Tokyo Safari or Discover Tokyo programs.
There is no better way to learn a language than to go out in the streets and practice directly with the locals.
That is exactly what the Tokyo Safari program is.
Learn how to order your favourite dish at a restaurant, learn how to buy souvenirs to bring back home or how to get your train ticket to visit the Japanese countryside.
Your Japanese teacher will accompany you at all times during this immersion into the language. They are from Tokyo themselves so they’ll know exactly where to go and how to make you progress fast, safely.
A Tokyo Safari lesson is divided as follow:
Warm up – Your Japanese teacher will explain what the lesson will look like that day plus the goals and aims you need to reach. They will teach you some vocabulary and sentence structure needed for the lesson.
The Safari – Go and explore the streets of Tokyo and put that Japanese into practice. Overall there are twenty different Safari scenarios to enjoy.
Cool Down – Did you experience any issues or difficulties? What kind of vocabulary were you missing? Everything will be reviewed in the cool down session with your teacher, so you can make the best of this experience.
Have you always been interested in the Japanese culture, or would like to find out more?
Discover Tokyo and immerse yourself fully into the Japanese language as your teacher will take you along some of Tokyo’s most touristic attractions.
– Suitable for all Chinese levels A1-C2
– 20 hours per week 1 on 1
– Maximum of 2 weeks
This outdoor study program allows you to pick up and practice your language skills with locals as you visit the Meiji Shrine, Ginza District, Imperial Palace and other beautiful tourist attractions in Tokyo.

Each lesson lasts for 55 minutes.
How long is a Japanese language program at LTL?
You decide on the length of your Japanese language program.
From 1 to 52 weeks, you choose how long you wish to learn Japanese in Japan with LTL.
Some people even book another course after their first one is complete so it’s truly flexible.
If you are unsure about the optimum length for your program, we would be happy to hear about your project and assist you in this decision.
Contact us here to get in touch with a Student Advisor.
Do I have just one teacher?
You can have one or two teachers, this will depend on your language program and your preferences.
Please let us know during the booking process.
This is also of course subject to teacher availability.
Isn’t 6 hours a day too much study time?
Six hours per day can sound like a lot, but in our experience it is not as draining as it sounds.
All lessons are designed to be diverse and entertaining, and our teachers know plenty of methods to teach in a fun way and keep you focused.
This could be through watching videos, playing board games, creating role plays… you will have a lot of fun studying Japanese.
There is no doubt it’s a challenge, and we aren’t saying it’s easy, but we’ve had plenty of students enjoy the six hour per day schedule.
How can I meet other students with 1-on-1 classes?
Meeting other students and making friends is actually very easy at LTL, even if you’re taking individual classes.
We organise school lunches, as well as school activities after class and weekend trips.
Students, teachers and staff usually get together during breaks, or stay a bit for coffee after class, so don’t worry about meeting new people.
If you live with a homestay family, you will be able to meet even more people as you will take part in the family’s various activities.
What’s best, group classes or 1-on-1?
This will depend on various elements.
Group classes are designed for beginner to intermediate students typically.
Individual classes are made for all levels, but even more so if you are of a higher level.
Studying 1-to-1 is best for people who’d like to learn fast and make great progress in a short amount of time.
It is also the best choice if you need to learn Japanese for a specific subject, such as passing the JLPT exam.
What are the after school activities?
After school activities can be visits to historical and touristy places, parks or shopping areas.
We can also organise cooking classes, calligraphy classes, traditional clothes fittings, movie nights, etc.
We are always open to new suggestions so feel free to tell us your ideas.
