Throughout all of our schools, as stated before, roughly 80% of our students choose to stay with a Chinese host family.

We cannot underestimate this number. The experience you will enjoy at a homestay is second to none and the reason why it’s so popular is because it genuinely enhances your Mandarin to new levels. This is what it’s all about.

Imagine after your Chinese lessons in Singapore, you plan on going out with fellow students and speaking English… what happens to the things you learnt that day?

Now imagine going to spend some time with your homestay family, who speak no English.

Not rocket science, right?!

Now of course, we are not telling you to isolate yourself from fellow students, anything but. Nevertheless, if it’s immersion you want, you have to be prepared to make these decisions.

Joining a Singapore Homestay – The Process

  1. EMAIL US – Contact us and tell us your thoughts. We’ll get an idea of your goals and aims, allowing us to match you with the best family possible.
  2. FILL OUT OUR QUICK QUESTIONNAIRE – This is crucial in allowing us to make the absolute best decision when it comes to placing you.
  3. GET SIGNED UP – We’ll send you information regarding your homestay along with a few pictures about a week before you arrive.
  4. ARRIVE IN SINGAPORE – If you book our survival kit we’ll be on hand to pick you up and take you straight to your homestay.

Frequently Asked Questions

I am vegan, can you find me a family?

Yes of course, no problem.

We can cater for all kinds of dietary requirements and allergies also so whether you are vegan, or allergic to peanuts, we can handle this.

Do I get a house key?

Yes.

Does the bedroom door have a lock?

Yes.

Can I get home late at night?

Of course yes, but do remember to respect your hosts.

Can I have someone stay over in my room with me?

No afraid not.

Do I find out about my homestay before arriving?

Yes, we will send you an information pack directly to your email.

Can I change my homestay if there are issues?

Yes we can make this happen if you need.

This doesn’t happen often at all and if there is a problem we encourage trying to resolve it, but of course sometimes these things happen. If so, we will support you.

Can I stay in a homestay if I don't book a course?

Afraid not.

Homestays are specifically for our full-time students.

How do I get to lessons on my first day?

Your host family will accompany you so no stress on your part.
